Rivers and thimbles

I've lived in Singapore for more than a decade now but I still see things with new eyes. The thing with Singapore is that nothing stays the same for too long. So if a place you like is still there after three years, then that is a testament to its strong staying power.

Changes happen pretty quickly, too. I still remember the sign just outside the plot of land that was soon to be The Esplanade: "To be unveiled in October 2002". And I distinctly remember thinking I wouldn't be around to witness that. But wouldn't you know? I've already seen more than a dozen shows there.

Having said that, I do wish The Orange Thimble doesn't go away. Tucked away in a little corner beside an egg shop that sells by the crate, it's a whimsical cafe with mighty potent coffee. I wish they had a wider food selection, though. But did I mention their coffee is potent?
